Obesity epidemic proportions now takes. Worldwide there are more than 1 billion overweight people and that more than 300 million in the obese category. With the American weight loss market only grossing more than 46 billion dollars, and projections of 1 trillion by 2010, obesity, dietary control and weight control nutrition is assuming growing concern under health Route planners especially the WTO.

The fully industrialised countries account for approximately 80% of the overweight with rest fall into the developing countries. U. S only good for a whopping 150 million people in the overweight category.

Obesity and overweight puts a risk of various diseases and conditions such as beneath the type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart, certain types of cancer such as breast cancer, cancer of the colon and kidney apart from numerous problems associated with respiratory and muscular systems etc problems.

Apart from these diseases is the social and financial costs of overweight and obesity is very high, on the financial, social and spiritual health of this huge share of the world population. Loss of productivity and the attendant costs for society, layer that self-esteem, lower quality of life adds up to huge financial load on the individual and the Governments.

There is a huge amount of action by various Governments worldwide, Ngos and institutions such as that in creating the right policy framework, waiving of information increasing awareness and creating the right environments to combat this epidemic.

However the responsibility of combating this threat lies with the individual as the Governments can only do so much.

What can you do to combat overweight and obesity?

1. prevention is the key. If you are not overweight now start to changes in dietary habits and lifestyle to avoid gaining weight.

2. check your weight on a weekly basis. An increase of more than 2 Kg in the permissible height/weight ratio set the alarm bells ringing.

3. avoid high energy foods, foodstuffs, food such as pizzas and hamburgers that are high in calories but low in nutrients to prevent the accumulation of fat cooked packed.

4. natural food. Increase your intake of green and green vegetables and fruits that are loaded with nutrients. A salad bowl is much better than a burger if you're in a hurry and have no time for a good meal.

5. change in lifestyle. High stress lifestyle require more energy dense foods that are high in fat. A hurried and stressed lifestyle can not conducive to your future physical and financial health. High stress can high paying your job but a massive future financial price unpacking and may not be worth it after all. A balance in work and social life is a must to combat stress related gorging.

6. in designing and constructing the necessary physical activities and exercises in your daily regimen to improve metabolism and burn fat. A 40 minute walk 5 days a week, a 3-4-day plans in the gym, climbing a few floors rather than taking the escalator, planning an outdoor schedule during the weekend, cutting on television and access to a hobby involving physical activities are all ways that surprisingly will prevent those pounds of flab and get fitter. Weight control is better than weight loss, that is a more painful process.

7. keep height/weight charts, calorie count charts of food items, daily nutrition charts on your desk or somewhere you can often to remember you constantly of your health objectives.

8. regularly Read about obesity, weight control, management, nutrition, health and fitness diet, holistic living practices could be of great help. Knowledge is the fuel that the prevention in motion.

Finally, it is important to remember that overweight and obesity not just physical or health problems but a big financial question forms. Your future wealth and happiness depends on your levels of productivity in an increasingly competitive world. Fitness and good health is the key to financial freedom in term of your earning potential and your savings against all those huge medical bills.
